Calm & Confident Workshop - 1.PNG

This workshop is for the gymnast who struggles with:

Overthinking

Fear of Failure

Self-Doubt

Social Anxiety

Performance Pressure

Caring too much about the opinions of others

Perfectionism

Feeling Insecure

Anxiety can significantly impact a gymnast in various ways. Such as:

  1. Performance Decline: Anxiety can lead to decreased focus and coordination, making it harder for gymnasts to execute complex routines effectively.

  2. Increased Risk of Injury: When anxious, gymnasts may hesitate or rush through skills, increasing the likelihood of falls or miscalculations that could result in injuries.

  3. Mental Blocks: Anxiety can create mental barriers, preventing gymnasts from attempting certain skills they once performed confidently, leading to a cycle of self-doubt.

  4. Physical Symptoms: Anxiety often manifests physically, causing symptoms like muscle tension, rapid heartbeat, or nausea, which can interfere with training and competition.

  5. Reduced Enjoyment: The pressure and stress of anxiety can take away the joy of gymnastics, leading to burnout and a decreased motivation to train or compete.

As a former college gymnast and high school Mental Health Counselor, dealing with anxiety has been a big part of my life! I've been in every gymnast's shoes who struggles with the list above and it can really ruin an athlete's gymnastics experience. With my education, knowledge and experience, I am excited to help young girls learn how to handle their anxiety and not let it steal so much of their happiness and fun in life. Let's face it - anxiety is something that every human will face but the younger these girls can learn how to deal with it in a healthy manner, the more their success will skyrocket inside and outside of the gym. The tools they will learn in this workshop are things they will use throughout their life when anxiety and stress tries to strike again.

About the Workshop:
This is a 4-week online workshop that will teach them how to understand, manage, and work through their anxiety so that it no longer negatively affects their life so greatly. Each call is live but will also be recorded if you can't make it.

What to Expect:

  • Practical Techniques: Gymnasts will learn effective strategies for staying calm under pressure, uncomfortable situations, or when stress arises.

  • Mindfulness Practices: We’ll explore mindfulness exercises that can be easily integrated into training routines, and their daily life, promoting a more positive mindset and happier version of themselves.

  • Community Support: This workshop is also a wonderful opportunity to connect with peers who share similar experiences, fostering a supportive environment and letting them know they're not alone.

When: October 16th, and the 3 Wednesdays to follow
Time: 7:30 pm Central
